Colts Match Reports - 2011U13 31-May-2011 (home) vs Turnham GreenBrentham Colts under 13 team enjoyed a comfortable win in Tuesday evening's home fixture against Turnham Green Colts. Batting first the Brentham boys posted a solid 138-5 in their 20 overs, with the bulk of the runs coming from the top four batsmen, Josh Steadman (16), Lewis Wilkinson (42), Samuel Gibb (17) and David Hooke (25). In reply Turnham Green were never really in the hunt and they were dismissed for 38 in 16 overs. Harry Davies' leg spin bamboozled the Turnham batsmen and he returned figures of 4-7 from four excellent overs. Louis Grantham and Jai Toor also weighed in with two wickets each. The fielding was tight, with a special mention for young Jamie Cox and all in all it was a very impressive performance. - Trevor U13s 7-Jun-2011 (away) vs GWROn paper another comfortable win for the u13s although on the field it was a strange topsy turvy game. Brentham won the toss and batted. We lost a couple of early wickets but then Josh Steadman (53 retired) and David Hooke (35) put on 80 runs for the third wicket. Sadly that turned out to be it for Brentham as the tail failed to wag. In fact, while Josh and David scored 88 between them, the other nine batsman managed only 14 between them (with 16 extras) as young GWR bowler Anmol ran amok with 4-8 from 2 speedy overs. We ended up, though, with a decent 118-9 from our 20 overs. The GWR reply started slowly but accelerated a bit towards the end. However they were always behind the required run rate and they were finally restricted to 92-9 from their 20 overs. Pick of the bowlers was Luke Martin with 3-20, but all the bowlers did well: Tom Barry (0-12) bowled 4 hostile overs and was unlucky not to get a wicket; Louis Grantham (1-22), Casi Bowyer (1-7), Andrew Dickson (1-14) and Jamie Cox (1-16) certainly all did their bit, and the fielding generally was a significant improvement on previous matches. So Brentham won by 26 runs. Well done boys. - Trevor U13s 3-Jul-2011 (away) vs Turnham GreenBrentham Colts under 13s enjoyed another comfortable win on Sunday 3rd July away at a sunny Turnham Green. Asked to bowl first Brentham dominated the Turnham Green boys, and only a 38 run sixth wicket stand allowed them to set any kind of target. Turnham were bowled out for 73 just inside their 20 overs, with Louis Grantham the pick of the bowlers with the impressive figures of 4-0-17-4. Jamie Cox weighed in with a useful 2-5 from his three overs, with Harry Davies and Tom Barry each taking a wicket (the other two wickets being run outs). Brentham wasted no time in knocking off the runs. Josh Steadman (22) and Lewis Wilkinson (34 no) opened with a 47 run stand and the 74 run target was reached in 11 overs. This was the final A-team match of the season and a fine, confident way to finish off. - Trevor |
