4th XI:
With the team one more year experienced, the younger players were looking to push on and establish themselves as 4th XI players. It was important to start the season off well as it took us until the second half of the season to win our first match of the campaign last year. This was achieved as we comfortably won the opening fixture. This was our most successful season since our promotion three years ago to the 4th division of the 1987 league. We ended up finishing 4th in the league having played 17 matches; winning 7, losing 4, getting 4 winning draws, having 1 match abandoned and getting a losing draw (1pt) once. We managed to get beaten badly in the away fixture to the champions (Richmond) and winning comfortably back at home where we got 4 points to the runners up (Lohana) and also beating them away.
Notable contributions were:-
Daniel Raza - scoring 261 runs in 9 innings with 2 not outs @ 37.28 with a high score of 71* not out;
Dillip Wilson scoring 334 runs in 6 innings with 2 not outs @ 83.50 with a high score of 109;
Steven Gaffin scoring 210 runs in 4 innings with 1 not out @ 70.00 with a high score of 104* not out;
Imran Raza who took 20 wickets @ 14.40
Chris Hitchcock who took 13 wickets @ 10.38
Jaisreet Bajwa who took 9 wickets @ 6.33 including 4 wickets in an over
Jamie Mansi who took 9 wickets @ 23.77
And Ryan Pettifer who took 7 wickets @ 6.85
A big thanks to Imran Raza for getting the side to a full 11 every week despite the late cry offs and also for captaining the side in my absence. John Whelan for coming out of retirement and keeping wicket when he played. Let’s hope we can push on once again in 2011 and try to win the league.
Player of the Season: Daniel Raza and Chris Hitchcock
