Sunday's (11th May) 1st XI cup game is off - new Sunday team is up now. The 3rd XI League match on Sat 10th May is at the Durston House ground, Swyncombe Avenue, Ealing. Map. COLTS' SEASON KICKS OFF As usual, outdoor coaching for the colts sections begins at the end of April - for exact dates (and more pre-season info)please go the the News pages in the Colts Cricket section of the site. Remember too that following on from its successful inaugural season in 2007, there will once again be a 4th XI run by Mark Saggers and Peter Brandreth, intended specifically to allow younger colts (with dads if keen) to experience senior cricket. Get in touch with either of them if you want to be involved - last year's players had a great time and did very well in their league. As you all know, 2008 is Brentham CC's centenary. To mark this, a Centenary Dinner was held at the Ramada Jarvis hotel in Ealing Common on 15th Feb, and was attended by a large number of members past and current, as well as distinguished guests from the world of international cricket. You can see pictures here. On the field, games have been arranged against the CCC for Wednesday 13th August and against MCC for Sunday 17th August, and we are hoping to make these celebratory occasions too. A centenary Brochure marking the history of the club has been produced (you can download the pdf here), and a new tie designed. Would all members please note the dates above in their diaries and make every effort to be free to attend these important events. 100 years of cricket at our wonderful, independent club is a tremendous achievement and everyone should get behind making 2008 a year to remember! ATTENTION SENIORS! Time to put something back. We urgently need people to help co-ordinate the Club's involvement in Sport England's Clubmark scheme. This is a process designed to enable clubs with junior sections to show that they are well run and to expand the training available to those in the club dealing with juniors. It's basically a question of collecting together the evidence to show that we are meeting their requirements in four areas - one person could do this but it might be easier for four to take one area each. Have a look at this for an idea of what's involved, or check www.clubmark.org.uk for more. This is an incredibly important step for the future of the club, as pretty soon most clubs will have Clubmark accreditation and those that don't will find very few parents bringing their kids to join. Brentham needs urgently to move forward here - please check it out and contact Alison to discuss whether you might be able to be of assistance. Mead Vale FC, a Sunday football team started by Brentham cricketers in the late 1960's, recently held a reunion in the club bar. Pics can be found here. Pics from the 2007 Isle Of Wight Tour are on the site here. This may surprise anyone who's seen the Patel boys bat, but it appears their father runs Mirage Opticians on Pitshanger Lane. Seriously, Mr and Mrs Patel are great supporters of the Trees, and rather spiffingly have decided to offer 15% off designer sunglasses for cricket to any Brentham players. Just mention your allegiance the club (or show them your tattoo...) Note you can check out the latest league tables (and more Middlesex League stuff) from middlesexccl.com or the link in the menu on the left. League fixtures for 2006 are also available there - select Brentham in the "Team Pages" box in the top right of the frame... New pics on the Ground page. Bigger variety of shots than some batsmen we could name... You can also find out more about the parent club's other sections and facilities at brenthamclub.co.uk, or check out the ECB's site. Old match reports and pictures can now be found in the archive section, in the menu to the left. |
