Angus Fraser delights as Annual Dinner returns

A sorely missed part of our calendar, the Annual Brentham CC Dinner, returned in style on Saturday night following a three-year absence due to Covid-19.

Guest of Honour Angus Fraser entertained those present with stories from his battles on England duty against the likes of Shane Warne and Curtly Ambrose. There were also tales of his time with Middlesex and in the Middlesex County Cricket League with Stanmore. The awards for the 2021 season were also presented.

Among the sixty present were current players, former players, members and family members from our junior section, as well as friends of Brentham from Shepherd's Bush, Actonians and other clubs in the Middlesex Cricket family.

Ahead of hearing from Fraser, MCCL Umpires Panel Chairman Keir Hopley spoke about his memories of umpiring at Brentham before Club Captain Paul Whelan responded on behalf of The Trees. The night was excellently compered by Roger Dakin.

Thanks must go, as always, to Alison Delaney for her work in organising the night and to Jack Solomon for persuading so many to part with so much for the raffle, helping us to make a profit on the night.

Our congratulations as well go to all the award winners:

Club Person of the Year - Vish Patel

Outstanding Performance of the Year - Tomek Tsang (6/27 vs Highgate)

Young Player of the Year - Rohit Khullar

1st XI Player of the Year - Usman Maqbool

2nd XI Player of the Year - Matt Bunker Jr

3rd XI Player of the Year - Matt Plews

4th XI Player of the Year - Krushna Kerai

We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 12 months time to our next dinner!
