Trees do double in West London Whack
It was a memorable August Bank Holiday Monday with our West London Whack 1s and 2s walking away with silverware from Finals Day!
The 1s only snuck into the knockout stages on net-run-rate but produced two fine performances to lift the Division One trophy. Saad Rehman's side successfully defended 139 (Hamza Khan 46*, Meet Goswami 45) against hosts Old Isleworthians in the semi-final thanks to 4/22 from Atif Shah and 2/24 from Ashfaq Ahmed before steamrollering Wycombe House in the final. The Trees put up 190 off their 20 overs with Wycombe House never looking like getting close in reply.
The 1s were joined in celebration by the 2s who had won their final at the Brentham Club earlier in the day.
Batting first against Old Isleworthians, The Trees piled on the runs. Ahmed Shahid top scored with 57 off 27 as Vish Patel's side ended their 20 overs on 201-8. Old Is started well in reply but once 15-year-old George Allen (3-32) and Pravin Jadhav (3-4) removed the openers it was game over; the visitors subsiding to 113 all-out, Hemen Mehta also taking three wickets.
