Weekend Preview: Wembley double to begin

The long, dark winter months are, thankfully, behind us and now it's time for the action to get underway.

Our 2022 season begins this weekend with a Saturday double header against Wembley before a Bank Holiday Sunday trip round the South Circular to Streatham and Marlborough.

After months of work at indoor nets, new skipper Pravin Jadhav gets his first opportunity to lead the First Team as they make the short trip to Vale Farm. There will be plenty of fresh faces involved at the weekend as we look to return to Division 1 at the first time of asking.

Among the players set to make a Trees debut is Derrick Roper, who arrived from South Africa last Sunday ahead of a summer at Meadvale Road.

The Second Team has a much more familiar feel to it with Vish Patel once again at the helm having led the side to promotion from Division 3 last season. And it's Vish's 2s who get the first chance to play on Meadvale Road this summer as they welcome Wembley.

It will be a good benchmark for Vish and the 2s with Wembley one of the teams they will come up against this season in Division Two.

Then on Sunday, it's a trip to SE21 for a Club XI game against Streatham and Marlborough. A mixed team drawn from across all 4 XIs will be hoping to get some good match practice into them against a club who currently run eight Saturday sides!
