D W J Vincent The autumn brought with it the enforced resignation of David as the Club’s Treasurer, following the stroke he suffered whilst on holiday. It also brought to an end one of the longest working and playing associations, from which the Brentham has benefited both at cricket and football. David Vincent 1931 - 2017
David passed away on 2nd May 2017 following a second serious stroke. David was always a Brentham man, having been brought up in Meadvale Road. He first became involved with the Club, more than 70 years ago, in 1947 and even the onset of National Service in 1949 failed to interrupt his presence, as he would manage to get back to play on Sundays come what may. Brentham vs Australians
It used to be the custom for the cricketing Touring side to play a one day game against The Club Cricket Conference, the representative side of club cricketers. In 1961 the Australians, captained by Richie Benaud, played the Conference at Blackheath and were beaten, a unique result and one that remains in the annals of Club Cricket. Brentham has the remarkable record of having the first and second leading wicket takers in the Middlesex County Cricket League (MCCL). They are Brian Reid and Tony Williams. The League began in 1972, at which point Brian was already 36 years old, when a medium fast bowler might have been considered past their peak.
